1.0 Introduction

Kingpost Construction Ltd (the company) is fully committed to achieving the highest standards of health, safety, and welfare, creating a safe working environment at all times, as required by statutory requirements and industry best practice.

Our policies, procedures, and improvement objectives are regularly reviewed by the Directors to ensure continued effectiveness and compliance.

This policy applies to all employees, contractors, subcontractors, and any persons working for or on behalf of Kingpost Construction Ltd.

2.0 Objectives

The aims of our policy are to:

  • Identify, assess, and minimise risks of injury and health hazards to all persons affected by the company’s activities, including employees, customers, and the public.

  • Continuously improve standards of health, safety, and welfare across all operations.

  • Promote the health, safety, and welfare of employees as an integral responsibility of management and leadership.

  • Ensure the legal obligations of the company and its employees are observed.

  • Provide clear guidance and communication to employees and subcontractors regarding their responsibilities.

3.0 Responsibilities

  • Directors have overall responsibility for health, safety, and welfare compliance, including policy implementation, monitoring, and review.

  • All employees are responsible for following this policy, taking reasonable care of their own health and safety, and co-operating with the company to comply with statutory requirements.

  • Employees must report hazards, incidents, near-misses, or breaches of health and safety procedures promptly to a Director or designated responsible person.

  • All subcontractors and suppliers engaged by the company are required to comply with this policy and relevant health and safety legislation.

4.0 Policy Commitments

To achieve our objectives, Kingpost Construction Ltd is committed to:

  • Providing a safe and healthy working environment for all employees and ensuring that our operations do not adversely affect the health, safety, and welfare of others.

  • Ensuring suitable information, instruction, supervision, and training are provided to all employees and subcontractors.

  • Providing sufficient resources and advice to maintain awareness of risks and the precautions required for safe working.

  • Implementing and maintaining safe systems of work, in line with statutory requirements, Approved Codes of Practice, and industry best practice.

  • Regularly inspecting and monitoring equipment, tools, and work activities to ensure safety standards are maintained.

  • Consulting with employees and subcontractors to support the effective implementation of this policy.

  • Encouraging employees to take personal responsibility for their own health and safety, and that of anyone affected by their activities.

  • Maintaining records of incidents, near misses, training, and inspections to support continuous improvement.

  • Reviewing this policy annually, or sooner if required, to ensure it remains relevant, effective, and legally compliant.

5.0 Training & Awareness

  • All employees receive health and safety induction training when joining the company.

  • Training is updated as required to reflect changes in legislation, procedures, or work activities.

  • Employees with additional responsibilities (e.g., site supervision) receive appropriate further training.

6.0 Incident Reporting and Investigation

  • All accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions must be reported immediately.

  • The company will investigate incidents promptly to identify causes and implement corrective actions.

  • Lessons learned from investigations will be communicated to employees to prevent recurrence.

7.0 Consultation & Communication

  • Employees are consulted on health and safety matters through regular briefings and toolbox talks.

  • This policy is communicated to all employees and made available to subcontractors and stakeholders.

8.0 Breach of Policy

  • Employees who fail to comply with this policy may face disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.

  • Subcontractors or suppliers who breach health and safety requirements may have their contracts terminated.

9.0 Review and Approval

This policy is reviewed annually to ensure it remains relevant, effective, and compliant with statutory requirements. It reflects Kingpost Construction Ltd’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and welfare.
